With summer now in full swing, some people will be begging for the cooler, darker, cosier months to hurry up and get here ASAP. In fact the famous department shop Selfridges have already
In light of the above and the recent heatwave that had us all begging for winter; I decided to write a blog post discussing the colder months. I will discuss some of the top trends for you to stay ahead of the game at home this Autumn/Winter 2019.
Whilst ‘trends’ change and evolve, they do so at different paces – some are popular for years rather than merely a season. Take the Nordic trend, it has been with us for years now and yet continues to surprise and delight.
A favourite which is around right now is tranquil Scandi, the key colours for this is of course Neutrals, from School House White (farrow and ball) and Mittens (Earthborn paints).
Mixed with materials such as wool, sheepskin, wicker, earthenware and ash/bleached wood to create the ultimate tranquil Scandi look. Simply what this trend is all about – understated, but ever-present beauty.
However you can take the above trend one step further into a combined trend which is one of my ultimate favourites. If you take Scandi and combine Boho together, it creates Global Essence. This is inspired from diverse global patterns, paisleys, richer tones and rugged textures mixed with all of the above from the Scandi trend.
The key to this trend mix is all in the detail. You need to be open to pom moms, tassels and macrame detailing. Making natural materials look freely stylish and effortless, with the global artisan celebrating the beauty of craftsmanship.
Digging deep from within the earth, natural pigments brings me onto a brand of paint which has a clay base which dries super matt and a lovely finish. Earthborn paints are what I’d highly recommend, you won’t regret it!
